Currently:

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety issues and sells Dangerous Dog signs and tags for purchase by city and county agencies for use.

Dangerous dogs are defined by MN Statute and have statewide requirements that must be met once a dog is deemed Dangerous.

Potentially dangerous dog requirements are set by each individual city and enforcement of these declarations is city dependent.

There are no uniform requirements for declaring a dog potentially dangerous or for registering a dog as potentially dangerous​.

The Office of Animal Protection would create a statewide Dangerous Dog Database ​​​​

This database would track and hold accountable the owners of dogs deemed dangerous if they are in violation of the statute requirements​.

Creation of a centralized database where municipalities can report and obtain reports of violations regarding the Dangerous Dog statute.

Residents would be able to determine if a Dangerous Dog is living in their neighborhood.
